We offer essential courses in deer management, from basic awareness courses through to highly specialised training programs and much more! We provide over 25 courses and qualifications. Whether it is Personal Development, Management, Introductory or Specialised training you are after, we have a course to suit every level.
The aim of our training programme is to equip those who have just embarked on a career working with deer, or those with more experience but no formal training with a blueprint to follow and to deliver a professional service in today’s competitive market. The courses are designed to give a clear understanding of the management process and demonstrate the skills, attributes and knowledge necessary to attain long-term success as a professional or semi-professional or recreational deer manager.
DSC Level 1
Jelen are committed to providing you with the finest DSCL1 training available anywhere in the UK. Our candidate pass rate is unequalled. In 2010, we achieved a 98% pass rate. In 2011 we achieved 100%. We think that speaks for itself. DSC Level 2
Is getting your three DSCL2 culls causing you frustration? In 2011, we launched our unique DSCL2 Initiative (DSC L2i). For the experienced stalker it allows you to achieve your three culls – and up to four if you need it – in only two days! The DSC L2i includes all witnessing by two seperate AW’s, and all the portfolio paperwork completion. It will save you time, hassle and money. For the less experienced stalker, we can offer competitively priced AW witnessed stalks, or if you would prefer, a pre-DSCL2 training day during which we will go through the entire process of culling, gralloching and inspection of carcasses to get you up to DSCL2 standard as quickly and informatively as possible.
Deer Farm Management/Deer Handling
Jelen are pleased to be working closely with one of the UK’s premier agricultural colleges to provide an opportunity for those wishing to look seriously at diversifying into commercial deer farming, and to gain valuable experience in the safe and efficient handling of farmed deer. Our Deer Farming Seminars will provide you with the ‘blueprint’ you need to set up in commercial deer farming, and to take advantage of this highly profitable sector of British livestock farming. We provide you with continued support through the formative stages of your business, underpinned with the many years of experience available from some of the industry’s leading specalists.
Marksmanship
We have made a special effort to enlist the help of some of the UK’s most experienced rifle shots in order to bring you a course that delvers the ultimate in specialist training in the principles and practice of advanced marksmanship with relation to Farmed, Park and Wild deer culling. We are also able to provide a specialist ‘Rifle clinic’ where we help you to iron out problems with your rifle, your ammunition and your technique to achieve some great results.
