DSC Level 2 – An initiative for success.
Introduction
With over 17,000 people now holding DSC Level 1, and a large majority of those still attempting to take DSC Level 2, Jelen Deer Services have launched an initiative to help those seeking DSC Level 2 witnessing and accreditation.
After watching the progress of DSC Level 2 for many years, there appears to be three fundamental problems that are likely to affect the ‘success’ of attaining three witnessed stalks, and meeting the required criteria.
1. The relative difficulty in finding accredited witnesses.
2. The sometimes extortionate costs involved, and,
3. The relative difficulty in finding deer to cull.
In many cases, ‘stalkers end up paying much more than is required to attain their DSC Level 2 Certification. The cost of stalking, if using another person’s land, doesn’t come cheap. You are talking generally around the £70 – £80 per stalk, plus trophy fees in some cases. On top of this may be your own expenses to get to the estate, maybe for two or three visits. Add to this the expenses charged by most Approved Witnesses, and you are starting to get the picture!
Fail to get your minimum of 3 deer required under the requirements of DSC Level 2, and guess what? Yes, you pay to go again! It is not unusual to hear reports of guys having paid in excess of £1,200 to get their 3 deer witnessed.
So what are Jelen Deer Services offering?
We are offering help to those seeking DSC Level 2 to achieve their goal by providing a guaranteed opportunity to get their 3 witnessed deer as required. More importantly, the cost of this is fixed. There are no hidden extras, no games and no surprises.
The fixed cost for completion of your 3 culls for DSC Level 2 through Jelen Deer Services is £599.00
This one-off cost will entitle the applicant to:
• The opportunity to cull a minimum of 3, but up to 4 deer, including witnessing for DSC Level 2. These will be cull deer featuring in an annual deer management program based firmly on removal of poorer, substandard or sick/injured animals as a matter or priority. These are usually Roe, Red or Fallow deer.
• All stalks required to achieve the three or four culls at a fixed cost.
• Two days deer stalking and/or instruction.
• All transport whilst on the land, and the use of the Estate rifle if needed.
• Approved Witness service, and portfolio completion, plus help and advice where required in aspects of deer culling.

When?

Where?
The cull days will be run in Derbyshire, Hampshire and Gloucestershire.
